The content one is he who values Allah’s decisions and decree for him over his own decisions and wants for himself. This is achieved through his outstanding knowledge of Allah -Subhanahu wa Ta’ala- and His Perfection; and his knowledge of his weak, falliable self.

It is said that Waheeb bin al-Ward, Sufyan Ath-Thawri and Yusuf bin Asbat – Rahimahumullah- were gathered together when Sufyan At-Thawri said, “Before this day I would hate that I were to die a sudden death. However now, I wish that I were dead today!”

When Yusuf inquired about the reason for this Sufyan replied: “For fear of fitnah!”

Yusuf said: “As for me, I don’t mind a longer stay in hope for an additional day of repentance and an increase in good deeds.”

They both then turned Waheeb asking him what he preferred. Waheeb said: I don’t prefer anything. Rather, I love whatever Allah chooses for me.

To this Sufyan Ath-Thawri got up and kissed his forehead and said, “By the Lord of the Ka’ba! You are truly inspired by the Divine!”
